By Robert D. Stuart - PCA

In the book of Colossians, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the preeminence of Christ. Our all-sufficient Savior is the Creator God, who rules heaven and earth. Christ is not just a teacher; He is Yahweh Himself.
Paul confronted the false teaching in Colossae, which had found its way into the church. The same threat of false teaching faces the church community today. Believers guard against such error through Bible study that goes beyond a discussion of subjective thoughts, experiences, and impressions. This study is intended to help students of the Bible wrestle with the text of Scripture.
To get the most from this study, learners should answer the questions throughout each chapter. They may do so before the meeting or class; or they may do the work at home after the session. Leaders may also use the questions to stimulate discussion on the topic found in the lesson.
Though this study of Colossians was developed for use in an adult Sunday school class, many have used the content for personal study, or as an aid in leading others to know God’s Word more deeply.

Robert D. Stuart currently serves as Pastor of Shepherding and Leadership at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church in Ballwin, MO. A former lawyer and skeptic, Bob came to Christ through the witness of his wife, Deena. Married for forty-seven years, Bob and Deena have three children and nine grandchildren. Bob grew up near Plymouth, MA, and attended Villanova University. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, seeing combat in Vietnam. After the Marine Corps, he attended the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary. After coming to know Jesus as Lord and Savior, he left the practice of law to attend Princeton Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Reformed Theological Seminary.
